Jacob Davey

Jacob started learning piano at the age of 6 and in the last 16 years has grown his love of music through performing and composing in a wide array of styles and genres. From 2003-2008, Jacob lived in Hobart and performed in several jazz ensembles whilst also exploring classical music in the form of solo and ensemble work through the Hutchins School of Performing Arts. In 2008 he received the Adjudicator’s choice award at the Hobart Eisteddfod from Ronald Farren-Price after a week of diverse performances.

In 2009 Jacob moved to Victoria, completing VCE Music solo performance and group performance at the Huntingtower School, under the guidance of Tim Young and Lynley Bramble. Jacob graduated with a double degree in Arts and Science from Monash University in 2014, majoring in music and psychology respectively. During this time Jacob enjoyed discovering plenty of chamber music by collaborating with string, woodwind and brass players as well as vocalists and other pianists.

Jacob has been enrolled in the Melbourne University’s Master of Teaching Internship program since November 2015 with the goal of teaching music and maths at secondary level. In the mean-time he hopes to complete his Licentiate in Music (LMusA) for piano performance. Jacob is extremely grateful to his parents and teachers for their guidance through all steps of his musical journey.
