Louisa Trewartha



Having grown up in Bendigo, Louisa moved to the big smoke in 2008 to complete a Bachelor of Music at the University of Melbourne, specialising in performance on trumpet. During this time she received the Orloff Family Charitable Trust Scholarship and the Florence Bradford Scholarship. In 2013, Louisa completed a year at the Australian National Academy of Music, mentored by David Elton and Tristram Williams. Louisa has been a casual musician with Orchestra Victoria since 2009, and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra since 2014. Louisa is also a private trumpet teacher, and brass teacher at Melbourne Girls Grammar School. Having always enjoyed composing, Louisa began to write more in 2014 when she composed and co-produced an EP for her band Crookshank. Other works include concertos for trumpet, flugelhorn, and tuba, a solo work for uilleann pipes and orchestra, multiple works for brass, a Nonet, and a Trio to be played by Ensemble Goldentree in March 2016.


Louisa is currently studying a year-long Masters in Scoring for Film and Visual Media at Pulse College in Dublin, Ireland. In order to pursue this study Louisa was supported by the Mason Family Trust bursary, Garry Schyman Scholarship- Pulse College, and the Ian Potter Cultural Trust.
