Katriona Tsyrlin - Violin


Katriona has over 20 years experience as a string performer, educator and conductor. She has premiered new violin and chamber works in Forest Collective’s concert series including her own compositions, a solo commission written for her by May Lyon, and new works for string quartet, piano trio and mixed chamber ensemble by Australian composers. Katriona performed live on ABC 774 Radio for Forest Collective and as a violinist in recent solo and trio recitals for Classical Revolutions, a New York Tropfest Film Fest soundtrack and at the Music Oz Awards. She plays violin with the Australian Concert Orchestra, La Fraternita di Solisti and Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra with whom she has toured China three times, and has played with Pro Musica, Camerata, Melbourne City Opera, Melbourne Opera and in many musicals including Les Miserables, Evita and Oliver. Katriona worked as violin tutor with Melbourne Youth Music’s Saturday program, Summer school and recently with Border Music Camp. Katriona holds a Bachelor of Music Performance in Violin studies from the Victorian College of the Arts and a Master of Music Studies in Conducting from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. She studied violin with Rudolf Osadnik, Miwako Abe, Zoë Black and recently with William Hennessy, and conducting with Prof. John Hopkins, Monte Mumford and Stephen Leek. Katriona also works with disadvantaged children as a conductor for the El Sistema based “Crashendo” project in Laverton, and as a violin/viola teacher and conductor at St Kevin’s College and Kilvington Grammar, Melbourne.



Katriona will join Ensemble Goldentree on violin for this special concert featuring new Australian music.
